EASTER MESSAGE:
"He is risen!" For the disciples on that first Easter this meant an empty tomb and some puzzling experiences as the wonderful truth began to dawn on them. We know the story but each year we need to re-discover the joy of those events. This means entering into the scriptures, approaching the Eucharist with our attention focused on the Sacrament and being alive to his presence in our encounters with each other.
Happy Easter!

NOTICES:
There will be no Thursday service this week and the Mass on (Palm) Sunday will be held at St Peters. The next service at St Andrews will be on Good Friday at 3.00pm.
The winner of last weeks Tote was number 120.
The next PCC meeting is to take place on Monday 14th March at 7.00pm.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK:
When we have an awareness of our need for God and experience his mercy and forgiveness in our lives, we increase our capacity to be merciful towards others too. Sin is destructive to our relationship with God and with others. Jesus dealt with it by focusing on the person who was in need of healing and a new beginning. Far from bringing condemnation, he brings release and newness of life.
                                                                Father Richard
READINGS:
First Reading: Isaiah 43:16-21

A reading from the prophet Isaiah.
Thus says the Lord, who made a way through the sea, a path in the great waters; who put chariots and horse in the field and a powerful army, which lay there never to rise again, snuffed out, put out like a wick:

Second Reading: Philippians 3:8-14
A reading from the letter of St Paul to the Philippians.
I believe nothing can happen that will outweigh the supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For him I have accepted the loss of everything, and I look on everything as so much rubbish if only I can have Christ and be given a place in him.

Gospel: John 8:1-11
A reading from the holy Gospel according to John.
Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. At daybreak he appeared in the Temple again; and as all the people came to him, he sat down and began to teach them.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 125
When the Lord delivered Zion from bondage,
 it seemed like a dream.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter,
on our lips there were songs.

Response: What marvels the Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.

 The heathens themselves said:
“What marvels the Lord worked for them!”
What marvels the Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.

Response: What marvels the Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.

Deliver us, O Lord, from our bondage
as streams in dry land.
Those who are sowing in tears
will sing when they reap.

Response: What marvels the Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.

They go out, they go out, full of tears,
carrying seed for the sowing:
they come back, they come back, full of song,
carrying their sheaves.

Response: What marvels the Lord worked for us!
Indeed we were glad.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK
God is with us throughout the changing circumstances of our lives. Often we can be forgetful of his presence and our choices can lead us away from the consolations which God alone can give. We should not waste the opportunities we are given to amend our lives, but we can take comfort that God is patient and gives us the chance to turn back to him. When we come before God in humility we find that we are blessed.

Father Richard

READINGS
First Reading: Exodus 3:1-8. 13-15
A reading from the book of Exodus.
Moses was looking after the flock of Jethro, his father-in-law, priest of Midian. He led his flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God....
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 10:1-6. 10-12
A reading from the first letter of St Paul to the Corinthians.
I want to remind you, brothers, how our fathers were all guided by a cloud above them and how they all passed through the sea....
Gospel: Luke 13:1-9
A reading from the holy Gospel according to Luke.
Some people arrived and told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with that of their sacrifices. At this he said to them, “Do you suppose these Galileans who suffered like that were greater sinners than any other Galileans?....

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 102

My soul, give thanks to the Lord,
all my being, bless his holy name.
My soul give thanks to the Lord
and never forget all his blessings.

Response: The Lord is compassion and love.
It is he who forgives all your guilt,
who heals every one of your ills,
who redeems your life from the grave,
who crowns you with love and compassion.

Response: The Lord is compassion and love.
The Lord does deeds of justice,
gives judgement for all who are oppressed.
He made known his ways to Moses
and his deeds to Israel’s sons.

Response: The Lord is compassion and love.
The Lord is compassion and love,
slow to anger and rich in mercy.
For as the heavens are high above the earth
so strong is his love for those who fear him.

Response: The Lord is compassion and love.
